Standard techniques relied on the strength of the hands and back, which was not only tiring but also dangerous for the porters, and most importantly put the instrument at risk of being dropped. The introduction of professional conveyor belts (commonly known as suspenders) completely changed this dynamic, shifting the weight from the hands to stronger muscle groups - the shoulders, legs and body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Construction and principle of operation of the carrier system<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Conveyor belts are a lever system that uses gravity and physics. Instead of lifting the instrument directly with the hands (which means constantly bending over), the load is lifted by straightening the porters' legs, a more ergonomic and safer movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Components of the set<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A professional kit consists of two key components that must work closely together:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1. harness (Body harness):<\/strong> These are wide, padded straps that porters put on their shoulders, chest and back. Their task is to evenly distribute the load over as much of the body as possible, minimizing point pressure. They must be made of durable yet soft material so as not to injure the shoulders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2. risers (Straps under the instrument):<\/strong> Made of industrial polyester, nylon or other very strong fibers. These straps are adjustable and interleaved under the instrument. They are the direct point of contact with the piano and transfer its weight to the harness on the porters body.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Irreplaceable use on stairs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the transport cart copes with flat terrain, the conveyor belts are <strong>essential<\/strong> to climb the stairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Balance and stability:<\/strong> They make it possible to hold the instrument stably even at an angle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Free hands:<\/strong> With the weight resting on the shoulders, porters can use their hands to stabilize the instrument on turns, open doors or grasp handrails, which is crucial for safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Instrument control:<\/strong> The straps eliminate direct gripping of the slippery lacquered case, minimizing the risk of the instrument slipping out of your hands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does the lifting process look like?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Two porters put on the harnesses. The carrying straps are then adjusted and translated underneath the piano. On command, the porters synchronously tighten the straps and straighten their legs, lifting the instrument.
